Hemming Karate Uniform Pants
Karate uniform pants – When you purchase a karate uniform, the sleeves of the jacket and the karate pants might be too long for you to fit properly, so you’ll have to have them hemmed. Some people just roll up their sleeves and pant legs, but this can become undone very quickly during the early parts of practicing karate drills. Here is a general guide on how to hem your karate uniform and pants:
Step 1: use a thread that matches the thickness and color of the original thread of the karate gi. In most cases this will be white or black, but you cannot find the right color thread, you can use invisible thread.
Step 2: cut off the exising hem of the karate uniform with small scissors or a seam ripper
Step 3: wear the pants, and fold each pant leg toward the inside. Once the length looks correct, pin it in place. Since these pants will be used in karate, and you want to make sure that the bottom of the pants will not get caught under your foot.
Step 4: measure the new length of the pants and make sure that both legs are the same length.
Step 5: with the fabric folded towards the inside, iron the edge of the pants of your karate uniform to make a good crease.
Step 6: Now with a sewing machine equipped with a hemstitch feature, complete the hem
