Improve Black Belt Training with Weights
As you probably know, the higher you reach in martial arts training, the more physically fit you have to be. Black belt training is physically more intensive and demands more from your body than white belt training. Along with the advance karate moves and martial arts techniques, an efficient muscular system is necessary to do well in higher level martial arts.
Weight Training
There’s a misconception that working out with weights will build big muscles and will cause you to perform martial arts moves slower. This is far from the truth. Bodybuilders train just to get big, and they usually don’t do any physical activity besides lifting weights. Since a martial artist trains in martial arts as well, they don’t have to worry about losing any speed while executing techniques. Weight training will help you build strong muscles that will add more power to your moves. Also, training explosively with weights can improve your speed as well. Be sure you know what you’re doing when training with explosive lifts.
Note that weight training can help at all levels, from white belt to black belt. Add weight training to your current martial arts regiment and you’ll see noticeable results in your speed and power of your techniques.
