Japanese Karate Books

Japanese karate books are rare and hard to find, especially in North America. You probably won’t find one at your local Barnes & Nobles or Chapters, but if you do a little digging, you’re bound to find authentic karate books from Japan. Here are some places to look to find Japanese books on the subject of Karate.
Local Library

Your local library may have a special section for foreign language books, including Japanese. Chances are, if you live in a metropolitan area, or in a city with a Japanese community, there will be a dedicated Japanese book section in the library. To find out, simply give them a call and as the librarian if there are books on karate written in Japanese.
Japanese Bookstores

In some cities there are Japanese book stores, filled with books and magazines on many subjects, including the martial arts. There’s a market in North America for imported Japanese goods, and Japanese bookstore is a good place to look. Search through your Yellow Pages or online to find out if there is one located in your city.
Online Search

Japanese books about karate and other products can be found online. By doing a search you can find a few merchants who sell books about karate written in Japanese. These items are usually shipped straight from Japan, so be prepared to pay a hefty shipping fee (and potential custom fees) if you decide to order online.
