Karate Belts
Working towards and aquiring higher level karate belts are one of the main objectives in karate training. The belt colors are representative of what you know, what level you’re at and your progress in martial arts training. Martial artists who are karate black belts have gone through hundreds of hours of hard work and dedicated training in the dojo.
A color system is commonplace, but not always uniform. Although the number of belt colors and grades vary, most karate schools follow a common scheme:
- White Belt
- Yellow Belt
- Orange Belt
- Green Belt
- Purple Belt
- Brown Belt
- Black Belt
Depending on your school and their testing system, you may need to purchase a new belt. Whatever you do, don’t be tempted to dye your old belt to the new color. Not only is this cheesy, but the sweat from training will make the dye run from the belt onto the karate uniform.
