Karate Movies

If you’re planning on renting or purchasing a martial arts movie for your child to watch, keep in mind that not all karate movies are created equal. In Hollywood, where the main objectives are primarily to entertain the majority of the population and make money from blockbuster films, movies with a martial arts theme usually emphasizes the controversial aspects of martial arts. Violence, flashy moves, and weapons are common place in martial arts movies, and typically the hero is rewarded for using violence to save the day.

There is, however, one exception. The popular 80’s cult classic, the Karate Kid is one of the movies that stand out from the crowd. Although there is violence in the movie, the main theme is developing self confidence, overcoming obstacles and growing up following a path of martial arts.

If there is one martial arts movie that your child should watch, and that you should have in your collection, it is the martial arts classic, “The Karate Kid”.
