Karate Strength Training
Karate strength training is a must-do activity if you’re planning on becoming successful in martial arts competitions. Just like any other sport where physical performance can be the difference between winning and losing, strength training and karate go together to develop you into a better martial artist. Also, if you’re not doing any strength training outside of the dojo, you’re only limiting yourself as a martial artist!
Some individuals think that just going to the dojo and training during the class is enough to get you to the top. This is wrong! (Unless you’re extremely talented and there is no competition). If you look at any professional sport (and competitive karate is a sport), everyone is looking to get the edge through strength training. And when you’re competing in karate, you want to be prepared as possible, and if you’re not strength training, you can lose to someone who is identical in skill compared to you, but is stronger and faster.
If you’re serious about martial arts competition, add strength training workouts to your training regiment.
