Kenpo Training Videos
Just about every martial arts style has their own instructional video series, that that includes Kenpo (or Kempo) as well. Kenpo training videos and other instructional karate movies are available from multiple instructors and are viewable in DVD or VHS formats. However, just like all instructional videos teaching martial arts techniques, they should be used as a supplementary guide rather than a primary source of information when it comes to training.
Some organizations promote a martial arts home study course, with added manuals, videos teaching the belt techniques etc., but beware of these! Unless you’re just looking to get a certificate and you’re not really serious about martial arts training in the first place, then a home study course isn’t for you. Training in Kenpo, or any other martial arts is a journey, and should be experienced with the watchful eye of a qualified instructor in a Karate dojo.
Kenpo videos used to assist in learning the martial arts can be a valuable resource. Often times the same karate move will be demonstrated in the video, but will be explained differently than what your sensei taught you. This can give you a little more insight and understand of the techniques you use when you’re training in karate.
Overall, karate instructional videos should be used to assist your learning, rather than be the one and only source of martial arts information.
