Stone Washed Karate Uniform
A stone washed karate uniform differs from a regular karate gi mainly by the feel and texture of the fabric, and the comfort experienced. Regular uniforms have a starchy, stiff feel to the fabric, and some people find this uncomfortable. Stone washed uniforms provide a solution for those who do not like the traditional feel.
The soft texture of stonewashed martial arts uniforms is accomplished washing the material with pebbles to achieve a worn appearance. By placing the fabric in large industrial machines with pumice pebbles, the material becomes soft with the use of friction. This makes the karate gi more comfortable to wear compared to regular uniforms, and it can be less restrictive when executing moves and exercising in class.
Although with traditional karate gi’s, eventually you will “break in” your uniform to make it feel soft and comfortable. However, for the faster approach, consider a stonewashed karate uniform.
